He Shot My Favorite Dog:
Some people have asked me, "What is it with you and Denver Snuffer Junior? You act like he shot your favorite dog."
Well, he did shoot my favorite dog!
For years Denver Snuffer was my favorite dog, until Denver Snuffer went out and shot my favorite dog.

Somebody needs to go online, buy Denver Snuffer a copy of the LDS Library 2009, and make him read it.
Denver needs to know what the true history and the official history of the LDS Church really is before he can do a good, competent, convincing, and realistic job of revising it.
Denver Snuffer disappointed me greatly when he published, "Passing the Heavenly Gift". In effect, he shot my favorite dog. It was a strange, disappointing, confusing, unexpected, and even nauseating change of direction. I didn't see it coming, and I didn't welcome it when it did come. Like others have expressed, the book often contradicts things that I know to be true, to no good effect whatsoever. Denver had to avoid and ignore a ton of evidence to the contrary, in order to be able to write what he wrote in that book. Denver shot himself in the foot with that book, leaving him nothing to stand on. As a result, he stumbled and fell. He undid everything that he had accomplished before. I still can't get over it. He shot my favorite dog!
I'm still grateful to Denver Snuffer, though. He has given me a lot of humorous material to laugh about and work with; and sometimes, he brings me to tears with some of the things that he says and does.

God has a sense of humor. Yes, God's humor probably isn't as unrefined, irreverent, profane, or silly as mine, but He has a sense of humor.
How do I know that it is so?
I have spent some time as Mr. Mom, and I have noticed that with the babies I have cared for, they can only do four things when they are born. They can eat, poop, cry, and laugh. It's almost two years before some of them can speak; but, practically from the moment they are born, they can look at the stupid and silly things that we do, find it humorous, and laugh at us. I find it miraculous. It's a touch of the Divine. Adult horses can laugh at us. Adult Chimpanzees can laugh at us. But, human babies can laugh at us from the very moment they can see us clearly.
Let's face it, we human beings are silly and stupid. I imagine that God laughs at us all the time, at all the crazy and illogical things that we think, do, and believe. I think one of the biggest flaws of religious people in general is that we take ourselves too seriously, refusing to see the humor in all that we do, and say, and believe. I mean, who but a human being could suck on a smoke stack and actually think that it is cool? You don't see Mr. Porcupine smoking on a stogie. Who but a human being would see the similarities between the "Large and Spacious Building" and the "City of Zion" and find it silly or funny?
Human beings are unique and wonderful creatures; and, it's the divinity within us that gives us the ability to laugh at ourselves and see that it is so. When I was ill, I went years without laughing. I was in hell. Hell is the absence of humor. We learn the truth by seeing and experiencing its opposite.

Some people have implied that I owe Denver Snuffer an apology for causing him some grief. However, as I see it, turn-around is fair play. Denver Snuffer has caused a lot of people a ton of grief, and he has never once apologized for it. So, you will have to judge for yourself who owes whom for what.
I still can't get over it. Denver snuffed my favorite dog!
So, you will have to go to Denver Snuffer's blog and decide for yourself if any of his ideas or claims still have merit:

ReplyDeleteLike what? I see lots of accusations like this, but no one seems troubled to back it up.
Not sure if he shot someone's dog, but he certainly slammed into a couple sacred cows...
Thanks for commenting.
DeleteThe one who took the trouble to back it up was Greg Smith. That's why I linked to Greg's posts regarding "Passing the Heavenly Gift", because Greg took the time to tell us and show us where Denver Snuffer got it wrong or went off track.

The 'like what" that you seek is found from Greg Smith, to begin with at least. There are others who have also made comments, if one is willing to search for them; and, some of those comments are actually found at the bottom of Greg Smith's posts.
